This one speaks for itself. Solange Magnano, a former Miss Argentina (and mother of two), died of complications from gluteoplasty…or in other words, butt implants. You really can’t make this stuff up. Nice that every once in a while a cause celebre comes around to remind us that vanity is a sin. Why do I envision all this ending up with Brad Pitt’s wife’s head in a box???
An ex-model who was obsessed with maintaining her youthful looks has died following surgery to make her buttocks firmer. Former Miss Argentina Solange Magnano, 38, …

Content creators have no shortage of troubling questions to answer, but media entrepreneur Edo Segal poses yet another one to them:
Media scarcity is dead. In the future my son will have a flash drive that he will pay $29 for that will have the capacity to hold all movies and music ever released by a major label, studio or tv/cable network. It will take 30 seconds to clone the data over the network to a friend who will pay $14.99 for a device with double capacity a year later. How …

Whoever you are reading this blog, I don’t know you. Well, maybe I do know you, but whether I know you or I don’t, I bet that you knew someone like Jon Caren during your adolescent days. Let me tell you a few things about Jon Caren. Life in the relatively upper-middle class hamlet of southwest Beverly Hills was cruising along pretty steadily until one day in 1991 when all of a sudden the powers that be got together and decided who was cool, who was popular, and who the …

I always get a tingle when something happens that gives people a reason to have opinions and the Roman Polanski saga qualifies. The saga of the Holocaust orphan/philandering auteur/Manson victim/international fugitive has inflamed passions over the past 48 hours and forced us to confront concepts of right, wrong, justice, and punishment. Celebrity scandals always dip into the collective consciousness and Polanski’s inhabits a unique place there due to its many contrasting dynamics.
Nearly impossible to simplify the issue, but this is the best I can boil it down to: Should a …

Yesterday witnessed the most high-profile M & A action in quite some time as Disney made yet a further admission that it has no capacity to actually create appealing content and decided to purchase Marvel to do it for them. Disney CEO Bob Iger realized that a business model reliant solely on the purchasing power of 13 year old girls is no longer sustainable, so he decided to add 13 year old boys (and those who think like 13 year old boys, i.e., every American male born within 10 years …

Oh yes, it’s Friday night and I’m in the mood for some post-disco glam rock. And no one does post-disco glam rock better than Blondie. And props to Blondie drummer, Clem Burke. Burke has been participating in a 8 year study into the physiology of drumming. Physiologists have measured Burke’s oxygen intake, metabolism, and stamina levels and it turns out that during a normal concert, Burke’s body actually operates at the level of a professional athlete. Watch the below video and you’ll see why. The guy is a madman.
Also, please note …

Makin like Larvell Jones and heading to Miami for New Year’s. Miami, the land of cocaine cowboys, Ace Ventura, the Cuban political machine, poorly named boutique hotels with too many white pillows in the lobby, and my grandma Alice. 355 days of the year, I have mixed emotions about Miami, but from Christmas to about January 3rd, the place just goes off. Collins Ave. and the aforementioned boutique hotels serve as the playground for every self-important sceney cheesedick from LA and NY…and I am no exception. I do not apologize …

As you may have heard, 39 year old Jennifer Aniston will be showing off her assets while leaving just a bit to the imagination on the cover of next month’s GQ. I guess she’s trying to boost her demographics, i.e. Males 18-35 who jerkoff to her. Don’t blame her to be perfectly honest. She really got hosed on this Brangelina thing. I mean, that was ruthless. Slightly hotter and much freakier movie star unapologetically plunders her marriage and repeatedly rubs her face in it in the press? Not cool and …

I’m tearing through “Ruthless”, rap impressario Jerry Heller’s memoir of his days managing N.W.A. The book is a stunning chronicle of the gangsta rap movement, not to mention late-80’s urban social dynamics. Heller was a classic rock executive who found himself at 45 sleeping on his parent’s couch, entirely disillusioned with the post-disco corporate takeover of the music industry. He got back in the game distributing local funk and early hip-hop records out of a warehouse on Santa Monica and Vine, when an alleged crack dealer from Compton named Eric …

The first major news story in the new year is of course Israel’s incursion into the Gaza Strip in an attempt to once and for all put the kibosh on those pesky democratically-elected religious psycopaths from Hamas (or give the Kadima party legitimate military credibility to compete with the hawkish Likud party and everybody’s favorite resident of Beverlywood, Benjamin Netanyahu, in upcoming elections, depending on who you talk to). Trying to take a moral stance on the Israeli-Palestinian battle is about as pointless as the solar powered lightbulb. Support Hamas …
